I am not really sure what this question means, especially in the MUDs part of the forum.

I am guessing, and this is just a guess, that you are having trouble generating a random character name, in MUSHclient, because the program can't find the names.txt file.

If so, a more helpful question would have been "cannot locate names file when generating character name" or something like that - and placed in the MUSHclient part of the Forum.

In older operating systems (like Windows 95) MUSHclient started up in the application directory, which is where the names.txt file is. However under Vista, which I am presuming you are using, Windows makes the starting directory some strange place.

When it asks for the names file, try browing to:

\Program Files\MUSHclient\names.txt

Once you have done that once it will remember the place, and you won't have to do it again.

There is also a "names" directory, with other types of names in it, you may prefer one of those, eg.

\Program Files\MUSHclient\names\dvargar2.nam
