When I open my client it autoconnects and starts logging my usual MUSH.

Quite often, as soon as the output starts rolling across my screen, it then crashes with the following message:

Quote:

MUSHClient has stopped working.

I have some custom scripts I have made, but if I remove those, the issue still occurs, so it isn't those.

Please turn auto connect off, so you can open without connecting. Then:

Template:summary

Please provide a summary of your world configuration:

  • Either use the scripting Immediate window (Ctrl+I) to execute: Debug ("summary")

    or

  • Install the Summary plugin (see "Summary" feature) and type "summary"

Then copy the resulting information from the output window, and paste into a Forum message.

You need version 4.55 onwards of MUSHclient to do this.

I am not familiar with the DailyLog plugin. Try removing that and then connecting.
USA Global Moderator #4
Also, if the crash goes away when you disable that plugin, please post the contents of the plugin somewhere so we can see where the problem is.
Australia #5
The crashing has seemed to stop now that I have auto connect turned off. I have re-added all my plugins, and still no crashes.

I was wondering if it may have been something to do with starting up MUSHclient and automatically starting a world and initiating logging that might have something to do with it?

Let me do some fiddling around to see if I can get something a little more definitive.
USA Global Moderator #6
There have been, in the past, problems with doing things right as MUSHclient was trying to start up. Perhaps if you post the exported contents of all your triggers and plugins we can help you narrow it down.

I would try removing that plugin, turning auto-connect back on, and trying again. If it crashes then, the plugin might be trying to access something that isn't available quite yet.

As I recall, there are a few "race" conditions at startup. Things have to be done in a certain order, eg. A before B. If something expects B to be done first then it might cause problems. And if you change it to B before A, then other problems arise.

Okay, the crashes have still been happening.

Auto World Login at Startup has been turned off
I still have autolog turned on (incase that is an issue)

I've been experiencing this problem, too. I'm seriously code illiterate though, and have no idea how to identify the problem, much less solve it. I do have quite a few triggers set up, but they're fairly common ones for the mud I play (Shattered Kingdoms.)

I'm trying to get some feedback on the game's Client forums, and to be honest I don't have anything helpful to contribute here yet.. But just know that you are not alone, at least! :/

Try making a new world, totally without any triggers or extras, and connecting. Let us know if that crashes or not.

Someone in my game forums told me to do that, too. I did, and it worked. I didn't even realize you could make two worlds for the same game. Here's the summary on the original world that was having problems, though.:

Maybe one of those triggers is responsible. You can copy and paste triggers from one world to another. Maybe if you do that in batches and test, then if it crashes you will know it was something in the last batch.
