I've been looking at the areas provided with smaug trying to figure out doors, I can make them and add the reset, but I think I'm still doing something wrong. Does an exit have to have a Door flag assign on both sides of it or one side?
i.e. an exit between room A and Room B. Or maybe I need unique keywords for each door?
I doubt you need a door both ways. What is wrong exactly? What do you type, and what does it reply?
I'me using the AreaEditor to make doors. I go to the two exits involved between two rooms and set them isdoor. But all the doors I make are always open.
You said an exit only needs one door?
I've noticed doors need a key word, does this have to be unique for each door?
Actually, upon reflection (and a jaunt through the other posts), I see not all exit flags are available in unreged version. So, I'll refrain 'till my reg info comes in.
:)
Check out some example resets in the normal area files (eg. newdark.are) - I think you use the reset to close the door.
OK, yes I do cruise the area files alot looking at progs and examples. I'm a "reverse engineering" type of learner. I'll get the hang of this yet, I'm stubborn.
Thanks for the help.
