Hey Nick, hey fans, this is a quick vote of support for Suggestion... 086 I think; the suggestion for inserting a background image.

I love MUSHclient, I love how it's not bloated, but to tell the truth the only background colours I can conjure up that aren't depressing just end up clashing with a reasonable ANSI pallette. ^^;

I just downloaded SimpleMU, and I'm seeing if it can compete. So far it looks like it's for a slightly more laypersonish crowd... but... it has the background image! *.* Maybe I'll keep MUSHclient for Staffly duties and coding, and SM for playing... oro... ;)

It is features like background images that make a client bloated, and I for one, prefer plain ANSI grey on black with standard colors. That is what makes MUSHClient so fast and reliable, no pointless cosmetics.

As long as its optional, and doesn't complicate matters for those who don't want to use it, I suppose it doesn't hurt. Although, since I have experienced a much higher number of unexplainable crashes after the pueblo/mxp features were added, I suppose it doesn't hurt to be wary of new features.

However, I have to admit that after using Netscape 6.2 for a while, I have kind of taken a liking to sleek, elegant themes. It really can make an application much more visually appealing, and that does count for something.

In the case of the latter Netscape versions I would say that features and application crashes go hand in hand. No, I am not trying to start a browser war, I just think that Netscape was a bad example of a sleek application that works fine. ;) Sort of like Windows XP. *cackles madly and watches the thread fill with IE/Opera/Lynx/Netscape and Linux/XP/Mac flames and feels pity for the person that will have to moderate the post later*
