I'm using SWRMUDFUSS as the basis for a different universe, so right now, I'm sorting through it and trying to figure out how the weapons system is put together, and from there see what I can do to modify it for what I'd like.

What exactly do the turbolaser turrets do?
Do they add to a ship's weapons, or do they simply provide control for the ship's existing armaments?
What can I do to increase the number of turrets beyond the default of 2?
If they aren't manned, do they fire automatically according to the commands of the main gunner station on the bridge?

Also, what's the difference between rockets, missiles, and torpedoes?

At this point, I'm tempted to commandeer the capital ships and throw them into a battle to better understand how this stuff works.
