| (I tried searching for other threads like this...)
I've really liked this product since I bought it...err....umm 8 years ago
But for an average user, it's options interface is kind of out of control.
I realize that recoding this would be a pain in the ass, but it is something (for me at least) to think about.
I would suggest new categories such as Advanced in the World Preferences, easer access to Global Preferences (perhaps merge the two somehow,) and having all the common options easier to get to...(auto wrap to window size, necessary connect stuff, autoconnect stuff...)
Thanks for the wonderful program :)
I use it for MOOing, always have, so its depth is undoubtedly a bit lost on me. | | Top |

| | I take your point about the configuration window. It has had a number of enhancements (changes?) since it was first written. The basic problem is the number of options, and trying to keep the number of option screens to a manageable limit. It is a nice idea to have "advanced options" but how do you know in advance whether something you want to do is advanced or not? |

| True enough....
I'd think maybe Advanced isn't the right word...
maybe Enhanced or something...
Well, I'm not sure really. But it seems to me anything that wouldn't be used by people looking for 'the basic controls' goes into the others.
Plugins is good...I'd think that could be basics (or even Intermediate if there was one)
I don't even know what some stuff is for, like that NAWS thing (does that require M** support or what?) | | Top |

| | Most of it should be in the help. NAWS is Negotiate About Window Size - basically the client tells the server how big its window is, in case the server wants to "page" output. |
