| Hello!
I know that I might be coming a little late with this, but I just wanted to thank you, Nick, for writing and maintaining this client over the past years. I think it is more than fair to say that your contribution to the world of MUDs is a very significant one and is appreciated by many users. I've tried many other clients, but none really suited me as well as MUSHClient did. Also thanks for the support provided on a regular basis over the forums.
I don't know if the user-base has grown or will grow after the client was declared as OpenSource, but I wish it and you personally the best of luck.
Thanks, Nick. =)

| Actually I believe that Nick had posted that the "number of downloads" had increased since version 4.0 was released, in fact something like 2X the normal number of downloads was reported.
I love this client too, but sadly do not have the time to play with the source, or else I would whip out my MFC E-Book, and delve into the depths of it and allow for customizable gauges as well as movable buttons and things, as well as COM communication without it having to be started via a plugin (to be accomplished via a query interface of all open worlds).
I have many ideas that I would love to implement into Mushclient, as do many people in the vast user base on these forums.

| Thank you for the complimentary remarks. :)
To try to answer your question about popularity, if I look at the web stats for prior to the Open Source version I see this many downloads:
- March 2007: version 3.78 : 2,846 hits
- February 2007: version 3.78 : 3,139 hits
And more recently:
- January 2008: version 4.19 : 2,765 hits (5 days yet to go in the month)
- December 2007: version 4.14 : 2,661 hits, version 4.19 : 954 hits
- November 2007: version 4.14 : 3,355 hits
- October 2007: version 4.14 : 3,543 hits
These figures need to be taken with a grain of salt, as for one thing files are cached by ISPs, and may well be mirrored at other sites.
There might also be some downloads which are merely version upgrades rather than new users. However the figures for early 2007 seem to show around 3,000 downloads a month, of the same version. Thus these are hardly all upgrades.
Meanwhile, in late 2007, when the Open Source version was available, the download rate seems to be a bit higher, closer to 3,500 per month rather than 3,000.
This is still a lot of downloads, it seems to me. I cannot say for sure whether some there are 3,000 x 12 users per year (ie. 36,000 users) or whether some people download it, try it once, and never use it again.
