Hello.
When I updated to the latest version of mushclient 4.43 portable, I noticed that my reader keeps saying line ***, a date and time and something else.
It also makes my reader skip some stuff when I try to review.
Is there any way to get rid of this message'
I tried killing the tool bars in the view menu but it would still say it.

The "something else" will be a clue to what is happening.

Possibly some plugin is generating an error message, identified by the three asterisks. Seeing the message might give a clue to what that error is.

The skipping might be related to the error. Also, which reader are you using? I think a couple of plugins were made to do screen reading. Maybe one has a problem and one doesn't? Can you post a link to it, or indeed the whole plugin if it isn't too long?

Hmm, actually, when I listened to it again, it only says line number, then a date and time and nothing else.
if you are talking about a compile error i'mpretty sure it's not the case.
It only seems to do that when another window has some activity, when the screen is minimized/maximized or simlpy when it is alt tabbed otu then back up sometimes it gets stuck and says it continuously every couple seconds.

i'm using jaws with the plugins that were posted here. Actually, I made 2 new functions for it which are tts_stop and tts_interrupt, but when this happends it's not using those functions, they're used only in very few cases and they work fine.

Hmmm, well there isn't much to go on here. I need to see the message, assuming that the reader is reading something off the screen. Possibly the reader itself is malfunctioning in some way.

Can you do this please?

  • Clear the output window - Shift+Ctrl+C and then "Y" to confirm.

  • Reproduce the problem a couple of times, so whatever the message is should be on the screen.

  • Click on the output window somewhere to put the focus there

  • Select all (Ctrl+A)

  • Copy (Ctrl+C)

  • Post the results here, editing anything that you think is irrelevant and might have personal details in it.

It sounds to me like it's inadvertently reading the line mouse-over tooltips. I have no experience with readers though, so feel free to ignore me.

Yeah I think that might be it, because those line messages don't appear in the output window. Is there a way to turn these tips off?

Yes, Output Configuration (Alt+5) and then uncheck "Show Line Information" (Alt+L).

However I think this isn't totally MUSHclient's fault here. In version 4.41 the tooltips were upgraded (however nothing was done to make them appear in the part that reads out the screen).

The change to the tooltips makes them appear in a balloon shape rather than a box.

What I think has happened is that your copy of *Windows* is configured to read out those balloon tooltips (which is probably helpful if you can't see the screen) - in *any* program.

Now, what is happening is that the mouse is wandering over the screen, the balloons pop up, and Windows reads them out to you. So it might read out "Line 87, <date>, (Note)" which is pretty much what you reported.

Also, since it is reading the balloons out to you, it has probably interrupted reading out the text on the screen. So that basically explains everything.

Thanks to Twisol for spotting that.

There we go, fixed. Thanks guys.
I just turned off the line information tooltips. And I think changing it's shape is what did it. Jaws sometimes seems to recognize controls by their graphical shape, so if a graphic is recognized is goign to read it, if it looks like the windows balloon tip.
