| Greetings!
I have choosen Smaug as the servern on wich to create my dream. An own fantasy world and so far I am doing fine, building etc by just reading helpfiles and such...
My problem is: How can I load a specific item (like a dagger <vnum goes here>) to my inventory.
I know there is one such command but I can't seem to find it anywhere...
Also, if I have an already existant object in my inventory (let's say a robe <vnum goes here>) how do I edit the states of that exact robe without changing the stats of all robes that has <vnum goes here> ...?
Thanks in advance and sorry for bothering... |

| Okay!
So you helped me figure the previous questionmarks out, but now I got a huge new one:
<date> 1900 :: Sock.sinaddr: 192.168.18.2, port -6341.
Read_from_descriptor: Unknown Error (57)
I get this when I try to log on, and it just says connected in the client but the login screen never appears...
Any ideas... Getting irritating not to be able to log in and code... |

| Which operating system are you using?
Which SMAUG version (name of download)?
Did you compile it yourself or use a precompiled one?
Are you on the same PC as the server? |

| I am using Smag v1.4 under MacOs 8.6
... and I managed in solving the problem, but I have not compiled the app myself...
Thanks anyhow, for the moment, everything seems to work just fine, but I am sure I will be back ;) |

| Okay, this is the current problem:
(I had it before too)...
The MUD is up and running and all is fine, for perhaps 5 minutes...
As soon as I do not do anything for a minute or two it's "freezes" and no commands go thru (so to say)...
I see this error in the Smaug window:
<date> 1900 :: Sock.sinaddr: 192.168.18.2, port -6341.
Read_from_descriptor: Unknown Error (57)
(where <date> is current date & time)
It's very annoying,...
I can't reconnect and all I can is to reboot the whole computer ( just restarting Smaug does not do the trick :( ) and then it's up for another 5 minutes...
Any ideas, it's mighty irritating... |

| Sounds like a problem with TCP/IP based on the error message.
Although I use MacOS a bit, I can't really say what the problem is with the SMAUG/Mac/TCPip combination. I've never run SMAUG on Mac myself.
If you can somehow upgrade TCP/IP (or Mac OS to a higher version) that might - possibly - fix it. |

| Well, I have installed (re-installed really) the latest ethernet drivers, everything works fine x-'cept for Smaug "idle" problem...
I have temporally fixed it with a ticker in my client (Rapscallion)...
Building and coding is progressing fine, if I need any more help I'll check back her and post in this thread...
Thanks! |
