Ok, well, I thought I had this problem fixed on my computer but apparently not. I asked about this a LONG time ago but I never found out the answer or found anything that works. I've been working on this problem for about 1/2 a year but because of my little knowledge nothing has happend.

When I connect to my MUD it tottaly locks up and goes into a blue screen of death that says "Access Violation, your computer must be restarted" or it just goes black.

I've tried so many different things. I have all the up to date codes, I changed the code a lot so I got the basic code and ran it and it still crashes but the main problem is that it doesn't *always* do it. Only everyonce in a while. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it either. I've searched the forums and now I'm exhausted and I have no clue what to do. Any Ideas?

Yeah, I thought about something like that too... So I tried, and it happens on two of my friends computers too. It just doesn't make sense.

There are some problems where (in older versions particularly) it tries to use a non-existant race or something like that, which make it index an array out-of-bounds, and thus crash.

You could try running the area files through the Area Editor "area check" (available on this site).

I know you probably won't want to do this, but the more protected versions of Windows (eg. NT 4, Windows 2000, XP) are less likely to crash the whole PC than the ones which were more "crashable" (eg. 95, 98, ME).

At least with those you just lose the program and not the whole PC, which is a lot less annoying.
