I tried downloading cygwin and from the net, and it never finishes the whole download, and basicly fails to get the entire file.

My first question is, does any one know of a site where I can download cygwin entirely?

Then the next question is, when I get cygwin, and wish to add snippets how exactly do I do that? the commands to edit the files and how to recompile it so it works again?

The Cygwin installer at their site, I thought, downloads individual files as required. That should eventually work. If not, I don't know where else, however I think they have quite a few mirror sites.

As for the plugins, read the write-up on "compiling the server" (one level up in the forum), plus any instructions that come with the snippets.

I would try a clean compile first (per my instructions) before you tried adding snippets.
