Hey everyone,

It was my intention to just remove all stock areas and make way for my building team to get started on new planets but it seems fote doesn't like areas to removed, at all :). As of right now, I have taken out all the areas except limbo and help. The mud starts up perfectly, but when I copyover, it crashes. I've checked with gdb to try and find out whats going on but all it gives me is core generated by copyover and segmentation fault...like I didn't know that already, heh lol. I apologize if this question has already been addressed, but i have been all over the website looking at other topics, and I got nothing. Thanks a lot in advance for any help you guys can provide.

Thats one amongst many of the problems with FotE, it has alot of area dependancies. I couldn't tell you off hand for sure, but whats the bt telling you, like it stops at the copyover? What line in the copyover? It may, for example, be trying to send people to a vnum that doesn't exist. Is it crashing before or after the execl has occured? So, on the new instance, or the old one?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, as soon as u copyover it seg faults. Thats pretty much what it told me, didn't say a thing about a particular file just said that the mud seg faulted upon copyover, which I already knew.

Would you happen to know which areas are required for fote to function properly? I suppose I could live with a few pointless stock areas for the sake of mud stability.
Or, on the other hand, is there some portion of the code that I can look for and remove that requires some of these areas to fuction?

Again, thanks.

Go to swfote.sourceforge.net and ask on the forum. Tawnos can probably tell you.
