| OK i read a VERY simmilar problem on the boards allreayd but since i have different hardware i figured id ask for myself. Noone can connect to my server through my IP on port 4000. Now i DO have a router which is Blitzz Netcruiser model BRT200 and my ISP is medicom cable. Im not worried about altering anything on my connection seeing as im the only one who uses it for anything other than e-mail. I really wana get my mud goin so me and my friends can get goin with it, so ANY info is very much appreciated.
Also my AIM sn is ffefalcon if you need to get ahold of me for my ip and such.

| | As long as you arent running private IP addresses and your ISP isnt blocking incoming telnet it should be fairly easy to configure the router to forward requests to your server. If you are on a private IP you *have* to do forwarding on the router and if your ISP has blocked incoming telnet at their firewall, well, yer pretty much screwed. |

| Why do you need to search for the device? If your in windows, run winipcfg with "run", and look at your default gateway, that will be the ip that your router is using on your lan(usually its 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.1 as far as I know). You should be able enter that IP in your browser and connect to the firmware on the router. This is usually what I do when I'm setting up routers for other, though I've never used your router in specific.
Most have a default password, and its more often than not "admin", for both pass and user.
Most routers have a reset button somewhere on them, if you push and hold that button, that might also reset the password if your ISP put one on there. Might also try the password that your ISP supplied for you for your internet connection, they might have set it to that. Hope that helps. |

| | Forwarding all port to your computer is pretty much only going to cause problems, and didn't work, as you said. Are you running any sort of a firewall that might be blocking it? If so, you need to open that port as well. Also, try calling your ISP, ask them if they have blocked incomming telnet connections. |

| Port forwarding and firewalling are two different things. Port forwarding means it forwards an incoming connection (to the router, basically) to the nominated PC.
Firewalling means whether or not an incoming connection is permitted. |
