ok for some reason some of the chars/imms can save their stats, where the load etc. but the rest cant, ive read through some posts and most of em seem to say well unless you can compile with cygwin your screwed, problem is for some reason or another cygwin's setup will lockup on my computer while trying to parse setup.bz2, so is there ANY way to get the windows server to save right or can someone tell me an alternative to gettiong cygwin to work?

Sure you should be able to save. Make sure you have the player directories set up. If some can save, and others not, check the first character of their names. You should have directories A, B, C ... Z in the player directory.

Which precompiled version are you using exactly? Some had problems renaming player files, as it writes out a temporary file as a precaution, and then renames it.

im using 1.4 right now, im getting c++ on my comp right now and will just compile the smaug sever from your site
