Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but I know there is a check box in the command area that say enable spell- checker on send but uh, it is grayed out and thusly unselectable. Any tips on how the heck I get it to stop doing that?

Go to File ->Global Preferences... then look at General page to find the setting that enables the Spell Checker. I think it is off by default for some silly reason.

The spell checker takes a second or two to read the dictionary, and a little while back (well maybe a year or so) it was a bit experimental, having been rewritten in Lua. Thus it was off by default.
