Okay, so I managed to call an ip and connect. However, I still have a slight problem. Here is how it looks like:

Session established to helltown.no-ip.org.
Chat session accepted, remote server: "Helltown"
Welcome to -=HellTown=-
chat Helltown help for a complete list of commands.

***NEW USERS**
chat Helltown chpw to change your password.

Anton.
[Helltown] Styg Has connected to the server [Ip Auth]

So that's all nice and good.. except! When I try to chat.

#chat helltown testing again
You chat to Helltown, 'testing again'

Can you tell me what the chat port is so I can try for myself?

Judging by the message, you chatted OK, but it didn't recognise your command. Try doing what they say and ask for help:

#chat Helltown help

That might give you a clue.

I'm still unable to identify the problem but have found a way around it - #chatall <message>. Thanks :)

Well the command you were using was meant for private messages, to a specific person, and it most likely did not understand how you were sending it, but #chatall is like just typing in a chat room, like it says "chat (to) all".

I too am curious though, what kind of server is this you have connected to?

It's a chat server for a private town in a mud so you need an account and all to connect to it, hence me trying to find a solution without having to go through finding the clan leaders to create another test account for Nick, since it has an IP check.

An IP check can be very dangerous, especially if someone uses dialup, so I think that it should be on a nickname basis, but then again that's just my thoughts on the matter.

From the sound of it, it is acting in the fashion of an IRC channel, which for all purposes involved might be easier to use an IRC client, that is IF it actually is one, and not a zChat, or MUDmaster chat channel.
