When I booted my win 10 pc today, I was suprised to discover that MUSHclient would crash on load, and each and everytime I tried through the exe. I had version 4.94, so I updated to 5.06. But no good, still crashing.

There was a massive windows update today, dled and finished it. Also made no difference at all.

To my suprise however, if I open through the worlds folder, doubleclicking my worldsave, then it starts up fine.
I removed all worlds from startup under Global preferences, made no difference.

Edit: Making a shortcut to the world file and trying it causes crash on load. But clicking just the mcl file have no issues.

The odds of us being able to figure out what caused this are pretty low.

Did you move your MUSHclient folder to a new location recently?

Nick, you don't happen to know how to make a debugging build that dumps a human-readable stack trace on crash do you?

I have had problems in the past where strange things were on the clipboard (eg. an image). Try copying something text-like (eg. the word "foo") to the clipboard, and then seeing if it opens.

Ive been fighting with this for a while, and finally managed to solve it.

It used to be under Programs (x86), but on a whim after backing up everything important, I moved it to the root of C:, reinstalled it and added my personal files.
I do not know why it did not like to be under Programs (x86 anymore. the folder is protected and you have to confirm as admin that changes to it is ok.

I did have to redirect to the new directory in a lot of bits in the client. But everything is sorted and runs fine now.
